Sorbus Sussex was established by Ros Hawley in 2006. Previously Ros worked in partnership with another Sussex based designer and has been designing gardens and advising gardeners in the local area over the last 6 years.

Ros started off studying biogeography, geology and soil science followed by an MSc from Wye College in Landscape Ecology, Design and Maintenance. More recently Ros has added a Diploma in Garden Design, a Certificate in Designing with Plants and the RHS Certificate in Horticulture Level 2 (Commendation).

During her career she has worked in a specialist rose and clematis nursery in Kent and taught horticulture and land reclamation at the highly respected Department of Landscape Architecture at Sheffield University.

As well as garden design, Ros has a background in business and has worked closely with architects and interior designers to design motivational and award winning workplace accommodation and is currently a visiting business coach for the garden design students at KLC School of Design.

Why Sorbus? It is a beautiful tree and one of the genus is also known as the 'True Service Tree'. With customer service embedded in her background, Ros aims to offer a truly personal and responsive service.

Sorbus Sussex Ltd won the "best of East Grinstead" award for the most creative business in 2008 and is nominated again for 2009.
